Victoria Kolenda founded Atlantic Bridge & Engineering in 1996 as a small union steel erector, to meet New England's growing need for building and bridge steel contractors. The first jobs were rebar, and Atlantic soon moved into the installation of complex structural steel and precast structures. Not long after its founding, the company won several contracts on the Central Artery Project in Boston.

Atlantic began fabricating steel in 2006 and now runs two AISC-certified fabrication shops, in Candia and Rochester, New Hampshire. The company handles every part of the steel business, from pre-construction to project completion: complete erection and fabrication packages with project management, engineering and detailing in-house.
